2020 Meursault, Domaine Michelot, 75cl

Domaine Michelot now stretches to 19 hectares in some of the finest vineyards in Meursault. Made famous from the 1960s by Bernard, it is now run by the sixth generation of the family, with the wines made since 1993 by Jean-François Mestre, who married one of Bernard’s four daughters. Great care is taken of the land, with no chemical fertilizers and regular ploughing rather than spraying for weeds. The style here has changed over the years from bumptious richness to what is now a power-packed yet flinty and mineral style.

Hand harvested and bunch pressed. Fermented in French oak (15% new) using indigenous yeasts at up to 20C. Mlf and 10 months ageing in barrel, with minimal battonage.

Nervy nose with hints of struck flint and citrus confit. The palate is taut yet with broad texture and a fine citrus finish.
