2021 Côte de Nuits Villages, Marchand-Tawse

Marchand-Tawse’s Côte de Nuits Villages is from a plot of 70-year-old vines in Comblanchien, the outstanding limestone terroir famous for its quarries and the quality of its stone. 30% whole bunches and 5% new oak. The nose is dark and attractive, with notes of plums, cassis, dark chocolate and earth. The tannins melt into the fruit. A very sophisticated Côte de Nuits Villages, these vines would surely have been classified as Nuits-St.-Georges were they on the other side of the border
