Domaine du Vieux Pressoir Saumur Rouge Puy Notre Dame
Style – Dry, Red Wine, Full Bodied
Grapes – Cabernet Franc
Region – Saumur, Loire, France
Winemaking - Domaine du Vieux Pressoir dates back to 1892 and was a key player in the creation of the Saumur AOC in the 1930s as well as more recently the smaller, prestigious Saumur Puy-Notre-Dame AOC in 2009. Claude Vagnon acquired the estate in 2015 with its 26-hectares of Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Franc and Chardonnay. Winemaker Frédéric Etienne achieves effortless balance and beautifully pure fruit across an exemplary range of wines made from estate-grown fruit in organic conversion.
What it tastes like - Deep purple dress. Expressive wine, with aromas of red and black fruits slightly stewed, supported by silky tannins and offers a beautiful persistence in the mouth. A delightful wine with character.
