Winemaking - A great addition to everyone's cellar. The Cornas appellation is located on the western bank of the Rhône river (right bank), on the back of the Massif Central mountains. The Cornas AOC was acquired in 1938, and Syrah is still the only authorised grape there. Altitude can be as high as 400 metres, providing a range of different slopes and inclinations for the traditional South, South West facing terraces, and help growers manage the hot Mediterranean climate.
What it tastes like - Wines produced here are powerful, cellar-worthy and show a distinct spice and smoke character. They tend to really open up after a few years, and Mickaël Cornas cuvées are no exceptions.
