Winemaking - The vines for this Syrah are planted in vineyards with chalky soils. Tight row spacing and high canopies keep the clusters in a mottled kind of light. The must is vinified in open top fermenters with 25 percent whole clusters, after which the wine is aged for 17 months in neutral French oak.
What it tastes like - Savoury, fruity and graceful, this Syrah is always laced with exotic fragrances: incense, coffee, peppery spices. This has all that swirling around dark stone-fruits with subtle mocha and tobacco. It finishes with great nuance and a suave, elegant texture.
