Established in 1989, Bodegas Felix Callejo is a family-owned winery transitioning to its second generation. Run by four members of the Callejo family, it was established by Felix and Pilar. Located near the high-altitude village of Sotillo de la Ribera in the Burgos province of northern Spain, the winery is a renowned producer of fine wines.

Sotillo de la Ribera boasts a wide range of soils, from gravelly former river beds to clay loam. The winery draws from 27 vineyards in the region, growing a selection of delicious red wine grapes and smooth whites, including Albillo Mayor, Merlot, Garnacha, and Tempranillo. The latter is known as Tinto Fino in Sotillo de la Ribera and makes up the entirety of this substantial red wine.

Harvested from a single vineyard of gravel soils, the Majuelos de Callejo showcases a stunning ruby red hue and an alluringly aromatic nose. Luscious scents of blueberry and plum, peppery spice, chocolate, leather, and toasty wood nuances entice the senses. On the palate, the luscious red and black fruits reign, accented by notes of cinnamon and nutmeg, and balanced by a firm tannic structure and good acidity. This full-bodied wine is rounded out with a long, silky finish. Treat yourself to a bottle with grilled meats or a rack of roast lamb.
