Lochlea Our Barley 46% 70cl

Lochlea Distillery is in the heart of Ayrshire, a farm growing their own barley, which they have been quietly distilling and ageing for a few years to release their own whisky. The Our Barley Edition is their ongoing core expression, crafted by John Campbell, who joined Lochlea from Laphroaig distillery.  A combination of Bourbon casks, Sherry casks and STR casks, creating a dram with spice and complexity.

Staff Tasting Notes

Nose – Tropical fruit muesli and toasted oak. The fruit and oak that comes from walking in to a warehouse. Peach and apricot too.

Palate – Toffee banana and toffee apple (a common thread in Lochlea). Cooked pear, then tarte tatin. A rich orange finish. Thoughts: Remarkably complete. Balanced and refreshing.
