We have a theory: blenders hog these thick, creamy Speyside single malts for themselves. They call them “dressing drams” – mellow, ripe, peachy whiskies from unsung, lesser-known distilleries – which can be used to add instant body and backbone to deluxe mainstream blends. A sort of flavour enhancer. The seasoning. Scotch MSG. And maybe, just maybe, that explains why Longmorns are so rare in this form: pure, untouched, and straight from the cask, as the gods intended.

COLOUR - Natural, pale gold

NOSE - Peach stone, jasmine, orange cream

PALATE - Panna cotta, vanilla fudge, white tea

FINISH - Rock candy, nettle
